Why were the jesuits set up in 1540? They were set up in 1540 by a guy called Ignatius Loyola. I know all about the spiritual excercises, and colleges, missionaries etc, i just dont really know WHY they were set up, or if it was just due to Ignatius's beliefs or something. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Is anyone here a Jesuit or know any Jesuits? I read a book which claims Jesuits are responsible for wars, assassinations and other catastrophes. Do any of these ideas hold any credence or is just some small fringe anti-catholic group?
How Many Roman Catholics Have Read the Extreme Oath of the Jesuits ? http://www.reformation.org/jesuit-oath.html Fr.Joseph : If Jack Chick is such a liar, Why has the Catholic Church not brought him to court ? Dear Catholic@Heart, I'm not your "brother",and if you think I will somehow be punished for posting what is in the Library of Congress, you're insane. Spiritroaming : Is the Library of Congress going to have to answer too ? I must have hit a nerve with you poor brainwashed catholics. lol
Do Jesuits still follow this rule? "To be right in everything, we ought always to hold that the white which I see, is black, if the Hierarchical Church so decides it." Should all good members of the church adhere to this principle?
Are the Jesuits still the most cruel, unscrupulous, and powerful of all the champions of Popery? "At the time of the religious reformation, the order of the Jesuits was created, the most cruel, unscrupulous, and powerful of all the champions of popery. Cut off from earthly ties and human interests, dead to the claims of natural affection, reason and conscience wholly silenced, they knew no rule, no tie, but that of their order, and no duty but to extend its power." Quote reference: Ellen G. White, The Great Controversy Between Christ and Satan, "The Conflict of the Ages in the Christian Dispensation" http://www.whiteestate.org/books/gc/gc.asp
Did you know that the Jesuits are the masters of disguise? "Under various disguises the Jesuits worked their way into offices of state, climbing up to be the counselors of kings, and shaping the policy of nations. They became servants to act as spies upon their masters. They established colleges for the sons of princes and nobles, and schools for the common people; and the children of Protestant parents were drawn into an observance of popish rites. All the outward pomp and display of the Romish worship was brought to bear to confuse the mind and dazzle and captivate the imagination, and thus the liberty for which the fathers had toiled and bled was betrayed by the sons. The Jesuits rapidly spread themselves over Europe, and wherever they went, there followed a revival of popery." (Ellen G. White, The Great Controversy Between Christ and Satan - "The Conflict of the Ages in the Christian Dispensation", Chapter 12, page 235) http://www.egwtext.whiteestate.org/gc/gc12.html
